Inshore is the place to be, and not just because of the wind!

Inshore fishing is still firing rather well around the usual fishy places of the Gulf and Waitemata harbour. These popular downtown areas offer shelter when the wind isn’t in our favour. While over to the Rangitoto โ€˜worm bedsโ€™ and channels and around the Noises it’s basically an island life for fish and fish hunters. Mid ground of the Hauraki Gulf holds lots of snapper pannies. As expected, fishing here is getting better by the day in terms of size and bite, when wind allows a venture out into the open of course.

Air temperatures have been very nice for us on land lately, similarly water temperatures are in a good range. Consequently providing a wide range of fish to target, mackerel, skipjack, squid, kahawai, snapper, kingfish, John Dory, gurnard. All it takes is a little adjustment of tackle to the conditions and cards that Mother Nature has dealt for the day. Different fish are readily feeding and providing the thrills and spills of a good day out, you just have to be out.

Make the most of the early Autumn fishing, it can provide some of the best fishing of the year by far. Fish are under the starters ordersโ€ฆreadyโ€ฆsetโ€ฆ Go!

Enjoy your fishing.
